I grew up in the waters of Tauranga moana and have been involved in working with people and natural resources since 1975 as a developer, regulator, funder, facilitator, conservator and advisor.

I have been privileged to work with the 58 iwi in the country since 2000 on fisheries, aquaculture and marine management across the motu. That work has resulted in me working with industry, eNGOs, scientists, councils, ministries and politicians (local, regional central, hapu and iwi).

I have found that we must follow a knowledge based approach, that Kiwis work better when they are asked to help and not compelled and the earlier we agree the long-term goal and begin to collaborate the better.

Let’s take this opportunity together for Te Oneroa a Tohe.
