DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
The preparation of the Beach Management Plan by Te Oneroa-a-Tōhe Board was a consultative process, where public engagement with beach users and locals was extremely important.
The initial stage of public engagement took place in late 2019, with hui held at various locations around the Far North. A summary of the engagement feedback can be downloaded from the link below.
Following feedback from the community, the comprehensive Te Rautaki o Te Oneroa-a-Tōhe (Te Oneroa-a-Tōhe Beach Management Plan) was developed for consultation, representing a great deal of work, including substantial community input over 18 months.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to early engagement, development of the draft plan, attended formal consultation events, or submitted feedback (written or verbal) to the consultation process. If you would like to read the feedback received during consultation, please click on the link.
The final plan was prepared and approved at the December 2020 Board meeting and became operative on 25 January 2021.
